Anchor

A clock on the wall you keep checking.

The edge of the bed, still unmade.

Unpacking

There is a voice that keeps time. It knows how long it has been to the week. It tells you. It’s fond of the word still. Still sad. Still not sleeping. Still going over it.

Notice that it never asks a question. It only delivers verdicts. It has never once told you what the correct number of weeks would have been because there isn’t one.

Most people try to argue with it. Arguing costs energy you have not got. It has never lost an argument in its life. You do not have to answer it. You can notice it has started up again the way you notice traffic outside.

If that voice were not in charge today, what would you do differently for the rest of it?

Touchpoint

Do one small kind thing on purpose and let it take longer than it needs to. Make a drink slowly. Stand outside for two minutes. Not to feel better, only to prove the day is still yours to spend.

You are allowed to be exactly where you are.

With gentleness,

Ruthie & Kelly
